Melee Tournament
----------------
Format: Grand melee, best of three battles.

Victory condition: Annihilation, first team to score two victories will earn the War Point.

Each Doge will be granted a purse of Florins with which to fund the various activities. Here is how that will play out for the first tournament. Every fighter wishing to participate will have a cost assigned. Also, each particular weapons form will have a cost assigned. Copies of the price lists will be displayed at troll and at the list tables. The Doge, and their Councilor for Heavy fighting, will decide how he or she best wishes to spend their purse. They will be able to purchase fighters for their melee team until 11:45 AM, at which point the list tables will be closed and their teams will then prepare to take the field for the 12:00 startup.

Fighter Cost List:

Authorized fighter: 1
Peerage tax (Master, Mistress): 1
Chivalrous tax (Sir, Master, Mistress): 2
Excellent tax (Baronial, County, Vicounty): 2
Gracious tax (Duchy): 3
Prince's Ransom (Highness): 3
King's Ransom (Majesty): 4

Single-handed weapon: 1
Shield (any size): 1
Offhand or secondary weapon: 1
Greatweapon (short spear, greatsword, polearm, other): 2

For example, to field myself (Herr Wulfgang) with a sword and wardoor would cost 3 florins, 1 for being an authorized fighter, +1 (Single-handed weapon), +1 (Shield). If I wanted to carry a dagger or throwing axe at my belt, I would cost 4. To field His Majesty Master Trumbrandt with a long spear would cost 11 florins. 1 for being an authorized fighter, +2 (Chivalrous), +4 (King's Ransom), +4 (Long Spear). To field His Grace Sir Roak with a crossbow would cost 9 florins. 1 for being an authorized fighter, +2 (Chivalrous), +3 (Gracious tax), +3 (Artillerist). If His Grace chose to also wear a sword at his belt, it would cost 10 florins to field him.

Please note that we must still abide by all the rules of the list, including legal authorizations and proper gauntlet types for the weapon style being assigned.

Singles Tourney
---------------
Format: Each Doge, and their Councilor for Heavy fighting, gathers a team from their available resources. Team sizes are to be equal. Team members then face off in single combat.

Victory Condition: The team with the most number of wins will earn the War Point. If teams are tied after the last fight, then we will hold one more tie-breaker match which will run best of three. As per the Melee tournament, each fighter wishing to participate will have a cost assigned, which will be levied before the tournament begins.

For the first exchange of the tournament, the Doge, or their Councilor for Heavy fighting who ranks higher according to the Order of Precedence will select and equip their fighter first, and the other will choose second. Subsequently, the Doge or Councilor who lost the previous exchange will select and equip their fighter first.

Each fighter will enter the list UNARMED, and they will carry NO SHIELD. There will be a selection of weapons and shields made available by the side of the list, with a cost associated for each. Only these weapons and shields will be permitted during the tournament. When the fighter enters the list, their Doge (or D.A.R.) will THEN purchase the weapon and/or shield they wish that particular combatant to use.

This includes their quantity. For example, there will only be two single-handed swords available. If the first fighter is given two swords to use, then there will not be a single-handed sword available for the other fighter.

All rules of the list will still be adhered to, including legal authorizations. Each Doge or Couniclor should have a pair of full gauntlets with them to hand out as the situation dictates.

Fighter Cost List:

Same as for melee. These costs will be levied before the tournament begins.

Weapon Cost List:

Buckler:1 (two available)
Dagger: 1 (two available)
Center-Grip Shield: 2 (two available)
Single-Handed Sword: 2 (two available)

Single-Handed Axe: 2 (one available)
Single-Handed Mace: 2 (one available)
Greatsword: 3 (two available)
Polearm: 3 (two available)
Short Cut & Thrust Spear: 3 (two available)

These costs will be levied as each fighter takes the list and has their weapon style chosen.

DANCE TOURNAMENT

Those wishing to compete in the dance tournament may sign up between 3pm and 4pm.
5:30-6pm: Dance tournament.

Format: The first tournament will be for poaching in Hole in the Wall. The second will be for most elegant and artful dancing in Hole in the Wall. Each is worth one war point.

Poaching Tournament: Each side will gather a team of four poachers. There will be numerous "neutral" dancers will merely be dancing the dance in the normal way, no poaching allowed for them. At a set time, poaching will begin, and at five random times, a whistle is blown and all stop. Whoever has the most poachers in the dance at that time wins a round. Whoever wins the most of five rounds gets a war point. Neither the poachers nor the neutral dancers are allowed to engage in any "blocking" maneuvers to prevent others from cutting in; they must all dance the dance in the proper way. Any who disobey may be "carded" and removed for that round. Also, neutral dancers can "refuse" a poach if they are bumped, or if the poach is rough or jarring.

The doges of each side will have eight "bumper" cards which they can give to their team members. Players can present these to any dancer at any time to immediately "bump" them out of the dance.

Artful Dancing Tournament: Each side assembles ten dancers and they are observed by judges (royalty) for 3 minutes and are judged according to how elegant, artful and entertainingly the team is able to dance Hole in the Wall. The winning side receives a War point.

CHESS TOURNAMENT

Those wishing to play in the chess tournament may sign up at the Gate. You must commit to playing at least one game.
11:45 AM: Chess sign-up is closed.

12:00 SHARP - Chess tournament begins. The chess tournament will end after feast, to allow those who aren't dancing to play some games between (or during) removes.

You can choose your opponent, or play whoever is assigned to you. You can mutually choose to play a full game, or only play "to check", meaning the first player to check the opponent's king wins (a faster game). The team that wins the most games receives two war points.

Each Doge, and their Councilor for Chess, will have a purse of coins which they can use to purchase "advantages" for certain games.

Advantages Cost List:
Remove any one of the opposing player's pawns, your choice: 1
Remove any one of the opposing player's bishop or knight, THEIR choice: 3
